Woman Kidnapped; Suspects Sought

A domestic dispute may have resulted in the kidnapping of a 23-year-old Oxnard woman by two men, police said.

The woman, who refused medical attention, was punched and slapped during the Wednesday evening incident and was driven against her will to a location near Oxnard State Beach, said Sgt. Lee Wilcox of the Oxnard Police Department.

“It’s a pretty unusual set of circumstances, to say the least,” he said. “I think this was directed by somebody to have this done.”

Police are checking into a possible suspect and motive for the kidnapping.

The two men forced the woman to stop her vehicle as she drove southbound on Ventura Road near the intersection of Devonshire Drive, Wilcox said. They got in, drove around and assaulted her for one to four hours, while also talking on her car’s cellular telephone to the person who may have been behind the kidnapping, he said.

The men then fled from the victim’s vehicle near Victoria Avenue and Gonzales Road, got in another car and headed northbound on Victoria Avenue.
