Alvin Condra; Pioneer Aerospace Engineer

Pioneer aerospace engineer Alvin E. Condra of Santa Paula died Wednesday following a brief illness. He was 87.

He was born Oct. 17, 1909, in Santa Ana.

Condra spent 45 years in the aerospace industry, working for Convair Aircraft, Aero Jet General Corp. and Northrop Aircraft. He was also a member of the Ox5 Pioneer Aviators group.

He moved to Ventura County from Hawthorne 13 years ago.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Mary; one stepdaughter, Sue Anne Easley of Bozeman, Mont.; four stepsons, Richard and Kenneth Clark of Mishawaka, Ind.; William Clark of Rancho Cordova; James Clark of Everett, Wash.; and 10 stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Private family services were held under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
