Conversion Lifts Orlando Over Piranhas

A two-point conversion after a touchdown in the final three minutes of play was enough to give the Orlando Predators a 41-40 victory over the Piranhas in an Arena Football League game Friday night at the Orlando (Fla.) Arena.

The Predators scored their final touchdown on a 32-yard pass from Scott Semptimphelter to Kelvin Ingram. Barry Wagner made the conversion on a two-yard run with 2 minutes 37 seconds left in the game in front of an announced crowd of 14,103

The winning score came on the heels of John Kaleo’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Reeves, which put the Piranhas ahead, 40-33.

The Piranhas (1-7) had led the entire game until that point.

Quarterback Mark Grieb started for the Piranhas, but he was sidelined by a leg injury in the first quarter. Kaleo, acquired Tuesday from San Jose, entered the game. In the beginning of the second quarter, Kaleo connected with receiver Ryan Murray for an 11-yard touchdown pass.

Kaleo completed 13 of 21 attempts for 186 yards and one interception. He had three touchdown passes and scored on a seven-yard run.

Ian Howfield made two field goals, from 30 and 20 yards. Franco Grilla of the Predators (6-2) had one field goal from 48 yards.
