Ballet Pacifica Season Marries Old, New and Something ‘Lilac’

Ballet Pacifica will dance the premiere of a newly designed production of Antony Tudor’s classic “Lilac Garden” and new works by artistic director Molly Lynch and David Allan, as well as new pieces for children, during the company’s 35th season.

The season will open Oct. 24 and 25 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre with Allan’s “Reunions,” Tina Gerstler’s “Personal Statements--Common Knowledge” and Lynch’s “Different Trains.”

Also at the Irvine theater, the March 20 and 21 program will include Tudor’s “Lilac Garden,” Colin Connor’s “Variations and Fugue” and the premiere of Lynch’s “The Ellington Club.”

The June 12 and 13 program will be Balanchine’s “Valse Fantaisie,” Philip Jerry’s “Our Town” and the premiere of Allan’s untitled new work.

Children’s programs, at the Festival of Arts Forum Theatre in Laguna Beach, are: “Jason and the Golden Fleece” (premiere) and “Mixed Vegetables” (Sept. 27-28); “Crayons” (premiere) and “Pinocchio” (Feb. 28-March 1); “The Pied Piper” (premiere) and “Winnie-the-Pooh” (April 18-19), and “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and “Tales of Mother Goose” (May 16-17).

The company also will dance Lynch’s “The Nutcracker” Dec. 12-14 at the Irvine theater.
