Resident Presented Award for Helping Senior Citizens
A 20-year-old Pico Rivera man has received a Gold Congressional Award for helping senior citizens in the city.
During a ceremony in Washington this week, Senate leaders presented the medal to Mark Elias, a finance major at Cal State Long Beach. In all, two dozen people from across the nation were present to receive the award.
As a volunteer for three years at the Pico Rivera Senior Citizens Center, Elias performed chores and errands for the city’s elderly residents.
