College Officials Finalize Proposal for Golf Center

Share

Plans for a golf center that Cerritos College officials hope will replace a 17-acre strawberry field may soon go before the city’s Planning Commission for preliminary approval.

College planners, responding to complaints about the project’s potential to create noise and traffic, recently laid out designs for increased landscaping and revised parking around the $4-million center.

Operated by El Segundo-based Family Golf Centers, the Cerritos center would include a driving range and putting green that college administrators intend to make available to students in physical education classes.

Ali Soliman, Cerritos’ assistant director of community development, said Wednesday that although city officials have not yet seen plans for the golf center, it would likely undergo strict scrutiny because the plot is surrounded by residential areas.
