Pact Would Fund More Child Care at College

Share

Cypress College Children’s Center may soon be offering child care to 20 more toddlers.

The North Orange County Community College District and Orange County Head Start Inc. are working on an agreement that would fund the expanded service.

The center presently can offer child care to a maximum of 59 kids.

The agreement would generate $72,198 for the center to care for the children from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday starting Sept. 1. The money would pay for employees and meals.

The Board of Trustees this week authorized the district to finalize the agreement.

Under the program, the center and Head Start would provide nurses, a family service advocate, a child development and educational specialist, a nutritionist and sponsor workshops for parents.

“I’m sure that it will be very successful,” Trustee Cynthia Coad said.
