Friends Raising Funds for Injured Samaritan
Friends of a still-hospitalized Newport Beach man, who was hit by a truck Aug. 9 when he stopped to help a motorist with a flat tire, are raising money to help him pay for medical expenses.
Thomas Seelig, 34, suffered head injuries after being struck while adjusting a jack under a woman’s parked car at 1 a.m. in Santa Ana.
California Highway Patrol officers used their own jacks to lift the car off the man. The truck driver was not arrested.
Seelig remains in critical condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana after surgery Wednesday, hospital officials said.
Friend Brenda Harper said Seelig’s medical insurance covers some but not all of the costs associated with treatment, and he is not being paid during his hospital stay.
Donations can be made to account number 106410417 at Sanwa Bank, 4400 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach, 92660.
