Share

Kay Starr, whose “Wheel of Fortune,” “Side by Side” and “The Rock and Roll Waltz” are pop classics, will open a two-week engagement Tuesday at the Cinegrill in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, 7000 Hollywood Blvd. Sharing the bill with Starr is Donald Mills, the last surviving Mills Brother, who will perform with his son John.

Starr is featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming “L.A. Confidential,” and she will appear with the Millses at Tower Records, 8801 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. That’s the day the film’s soundtrack will be issued. Starr and the Mills will be autographing their latest CD releases. The Mills’ most recent CD is “Still . . . There’s You.” Having been rediscovered by lounge music aficionados, Starr is planning a new album of blues and torch songs. It is to be produced by Billy Vera and will be called “Kay Starr--At This Moment.”
