Plane Crash Victims in Good Condition

Three men on board a light plane that crashed while attempting an emergency landing at Oxnard Airport were in good condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center on Saturday, hospital officials said.

The men, whose Cessna 210 clipped a house and crashed in a lima bean field, were identified as 34-year-old Michael Macias of Camarillo and 33-year-old Beat Leu and 41-year-old Markus Vogel, both of Switzerland. Macias is a Camarillo-based flight instructor.

Authorities said the three men were on a Burbank-bound instructional flight before going down about 2:30 p.m. Friday near Ivanhoe Avenue.

Diana Brown, a Federal Aviation Administration operations manager, said Saturday that the Cessna pilot radioed Oxnard Airport to report engine failure shortly before the crash. National Transportation Safety Board investigators have taken over the investigation.
