* An Aug. 17 letter from Paul Resnick, in support of constructing luxury accommodations for the rich at Crystal Cove, worries that our California parks will “become places for the poor and homeless only,” and states that “the rich have rights.”
Yes, the rich have rights--the very same rights as anyone else. No one bars the rich from using our California parks and public lands in the same way as the general public. If Resnick feels that he must have luxury in his vacation accommodations and wishes to exclude all those who are not of his own exalted status, let him stay on lands and in housing that are not paid for and maintained by my, and every other Californian’s, tax moneys.
