From Times Staff and Wire Reports

One Louisiana State University student died and three others were hospitalized after a drinking binge to celebrate fraternity pledge week, according to William Jenkins, the school’s chancellor. Benjamin Wynne, 20, who died, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.588, six times the legal limit of 0.10, deputy coroner Chuck Smith said. Jenkins said there was no evidence that anyone had been forced to drink as part of any hazing ritual. The Princeton Review, not affiliated with Princeton University, recently published a guide for high school seniors that listed LSU, in Baton Rouge, as 10th on a list of the nation’s top party schools.
