Veteran School Board Member to Be Honored

After 13 years on the Hermosa Beach school board, Lynne Gonzales felt it was time to step down.

The 50-year-old mother of three did not run for reelection to the Hermosa Beach City School District board in November. She will be honored at the Dec. 10 school board meeting for her work in bringing computers to schools and preserving school property for future growth.

Gonzales, who works as a secretary at the Riviera Hall Lutheran School in Redondo Beach, said she saw the school district shrink over the years while enrollment continues to increase.

“The highs on the school board were getting the Hermosa Valley School remodeled and opening Hermosa View Elementary School in 1993 after it was closed for years due to dwindling enrollment,” Gonzales said, noting she will continue to be involved in the school district.
