Funds Available for Emergency Programs
Nearly $400,000 is available for emergency food and shelter programs in Ventura County.
The Federal Emergency Management Act will provide $391,980 to help expand the capacity of nonprofit programs that feed and house people in the county.
To receive funds, groups must be able to deliver emergency food and shelter services, have an accounting system, conduct an annual audit and not practice discrimination. If the group is private, it must have a voluntary board of directors.
Qualifying organizations should call Beverly Viola at 485-6288. Applications must be received by noon Thursday and are available at United Way of Ventura County, 1317 Del Norte Road, Suite 100, Camarillo, CA 93010.
