The Rev. Akira J. Kuroda, 83, a popular minister and a founder of the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society. A native of Honolulu, Kuroda was interned during World War II at the Amache Relocation Center in Colorado. Afterward, he pursued his education at Wheaton College in Illinois and at McCormick Seminary, now part of the University of Chicago. In his ministry of more than half a century, Kuroda served the Lakeside Japanese Christian Church, the Palos Verdes Baptist Church and the Holiness Churches of Honolulu, Los Angeles, West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. On Nov. 20 in Los Angeles.
