Roads, Economy Are on New Mayor’s Agenda
With his election as mayor Tuesday, Gene Wisner said he wants to lead the city’s economic development program, including finishing plans on a 900-acre housing development, the Shell Development, on the northwest end of the city.
Wisner said he’d also like to make significant progress in the next year on two major road projects: securing more funding for a bridge across the railroad tracks at the end of Fairmont Boulevard, connecting it to La Palma Avenue; and ironing out disputes over plans to improve Imperial Highway.
Wisner, 63, is a retired retailer. He has been on the City Council since 1982.
