Trauma Suit Against Disneyland Rejected

An Orange County Superior Court jury Friday rejected a San Clemente woman’s claims that she and her children were unnecessarily traumatized at Disneyland during a 1996 visit when security guards wrongly accused her of shoplifting.

Taylor Canada sued following an incident in which she claimed that Disney personnel accused her of stealing a sweatshirt that she had bought at the Gap and brought from home. The woman said she spent more than $400 at the park that day.

While she was being questioned, Canada said her children sat out in the cold for hours.

Disney officials said they questioned Canada for less than an hour and released her.

The jury of six men and six women took less than three hours to decide in Disney’s favor.
