Environmental Fair Scheduled Sunday
The Jewish League for Environmental Awareness is hosting its first environmental fair Sunday at Temple Beth Torah at 7620 Foothill Road in Ventura.
From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors will learn about environmental issues from videos, lectures and a presentation by the Raptor Rehabilitation and Release Program.
Guests also will hear updates on the polluted Yarkon River in Israel, where Australian athletes died this summer after falling into contaminated water.
The free event is co-sponsored by the United Jewish Appeal/Federation of Ventura County. The event is also supported by synagogues, including Temple Beth Torah, Chabad of Ventura, Congregation Am Hayam, JFC-Temple Ner Ami and K’hilat Ha’Aloneem.
The purpose of the fair is to “educate and inspire the community during these times of serious environmental problems,” league director Jeffrey Auerbach said. For more information, call Auerbach at 647-7760.
