Chants, Chestnuts and Other Joyful Noise

Big, warm and fuzzy spirits exude from this project, on which Domingo and Chinese soprano Huang are joined by overcooked pop-soul man Bolton. It doesn’t always add up to art, but that’s not the point. The Vienna Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Steven Mercurio, offers some elegant padding on Christmas ditties both obscure and evergreen.
Recordings are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good), four stars (excellent).
