Johnson to Play Saturday

As expected, and right on schedule, senior swingman Kris Johnson was fully reinstated Tuesday, and will get significant playing time in the Bruins’ home opener Saturday against Cal State Fullerton, according to Coach Steve Lavin.

Johnson, indefinitely suspended, along with Jelani McCoy, on Sept. 29 for unspecified violations of team and athletic department rules, could be in the starting lineup Saturday, although it could take a few more games.

“We haven’t really put a timetable on when he’s going to start,” Lavin said. “I don’t want to put on any added pressure. I kind of want to bring him back and integrate him into the rotation and get him some minutes and allow him to get his feet under him and his timing.”

Johnson, a key offensive weapon in his first three seasons, was allowed to rejoin the team for practice Nov. 17, but missed the Bruins’ first four games.
