Medical Center to Give $5,000 to Charities

It may not come in a fancy box and it usually isn’t gift-wrapped, but once given, it can propel change where it’s needed most--among a community’s most vulnerable.

That’s what the Irvine Medical Center is counting on happening with the $5,000 it is donating to several local charities this holiday season.

The Assistance League of Irvine, which helps provide emergency clothing for some of the hospital’s patients, will receive $3,500. The hospital also will give $750 to the Irvine Temporary Housing program, which helps the homeless, and $750 to the Adult Day Care Center and Irvine Senior Center.

“We’ve worked with these charities in the past, and we wanted to give something back to them and at the same time help the local community,” said Dr. Marshall Grossman, chief of staff at Irvine Medical Center and one of a group of doctors who spearheaded the effort.
