The Boston Bruins finally got a shot past Dominik Hasek. As a matter of fact, they got two.

After losing six consecutive times and going 115 minutes without scoring against Buffalo, the Bruins got a pair of late third-period goals from Anson Carter and Jason Allison for a 2-1 victory over the Sabres at Boston.

Hasek was on his way to his third shutout in his last four games when Carter scored his second goal of the season with 7:17 left in the third period. It was a shot from the right circle which trickled under Hasek’s pads.

“He was fast,” Hasek said. “I don’t think he meant to shoot in the five-hole, but it was my fault and I am disappointed. I don’t think the second one was my fault--it just bounced out.”

Allison’s 10th goal came with 5:51 left and broke a 1-1 tie.

Allison followed his own miss from the left side on a pass from Steve Heinze.

“I knew Allison was going strong to the net so I dove at the puck to try and get it to him,” Heinze said. “Luckily, it worked and we finally got it past Hasek.”

The come-from-behind victory ended Buffalo’s winning streak over the Bruins, who last beat the Sabres on March 31, 1996. It also marked the first time the Bruins have won three consecutive games since Nov. 6.

Philadelphia 4, N.Y. Islanders 3--Eric Lindros’ third goal of the game with 1:27 left at Philadelphia enabled the Flyers to end a four-game winless streak (0-1-3).

Lindros, who had scored only once in his last 13 games, banked a shot off an Islander defenseman behind goaltender Tommy Salo for his 10th career hat trick.

Ron Hextall, playing his first game since suffering a pulled thigh muscle on Nov. 28 against the Islanders, made 15 saves.

John LeClair broke a 1-1 tie 1:58 into the third period, getting the 399th point of his career and moving into second place among NHL goal-scorers with 23, one behind Teemu Selanne of the Mighty Ducks.

St. Louis 2, Ottawa 1--Brett Hull and Blair Atcheynum scored first-period goals at Kanata, Canada, as the Blues ended the Senators’ three-game winning streak.

Ottawa forward Daniel Alfredsson re-injured his right ankle and was helped off the ice 4:43 into the final period.

Alfredsson has 10 goals and 17 points in 17 games this season.

The Senators, who were coming off a five-day break, had won four of their last five games and three of four.

They haven’t won in 14 games this season when trailing after two periods.

St. Louis is tied for second overall with Detroit in the league with 43 points, three behind Dallas.
