Decision Delayed on Recycling Plant

Simi Valley residents will have to wait at least until spring for a new recycling facility.
Planning commissioners postponed a decision this week on whether to give the Arrow Real Corp. permission to open a recycling facility at 400 W. Los Angeles Ave.
City planner Rich Braun said the decision was delayed so staff could work out a number of timing and mitigation issues, such as aesthetics.
The Arrow Real Corp., owner of the land, has leased the property to Simi Valley Recycling, which would operate the facility and recycle such items as cardboard, newspapers, plastic and aluminum.
The commission has set no date for a vote. Braun estimates it won’t be heard again until the spring.
