John Flynn
The position of Councilwoman Stacey Murphy, the swing vote in supporting termination of John Flynn as an airport commissioner, was based on her feeling that he was out of touch with the “philosophies of Burbank” and was “indicative of his failing to understand the issues at Burbank Airport” (“Burbank Airport Commissioner Is Fired,” Dec. 4).
This conclusion was based, apparently, solely on one vote (which did not change the majority outcome) he made on an airport administrative issue unrelated to the terminal relocation / airport expansion project that is the real concern to Burbank citizens. As a Burbank resident who follows what’s happening here, I have never heard discussed any “philosophy of Burbank” that would apply to whether or not the current longtime airport management company should be changed. I can imagine poor John’s surprise at discovering that such a specific philosophy existed and that he was required to comply with it.
