Doug Gilmour scored on his first shift in Maple Leaf Gardens since being traded and Martin Brodeur stopped all 25 Toronto shots as the New Jersey Devils extended their winning streak to five games with a 3-0 victory at Toronto.

Denis Pederson and Bobby Holik added goals for the Eastern Conference leaders, who improved their record to 22-9-0.

Brodeur got his fourth shutout of the season.

Edmonton 4, St. Louis 1--Boris Mironov had a goal and an assist and the Oilers victimized the NHL’s No. 2 penalty-killing unit by scoring three goals on the power play at St. Louis.

Mironov assisted on a second-period goal, a break-in by Mats Lindgren that snapped a 1-1 tie. He slapped in the rebound of his own shot at 3:02 of the second period for a two-goal lead as the Oilers wrapped up a 2-1-1 trip and ended the Blues’ three-game home winning streak.

Entering the game, St. Louis had allowed only 11 goals in 127 power plays. Dan McGillis also scored with the man advantage and Doug Weight had two assists for the Oilers, who were 3-for-10.

Goalie Curtis Joseph did the rest, stopping 36 shots to frustrate his former team. Brett Hull was blanked on 10 shots, including three attempts from the side of the net near the 15-minute mark of the second period, and Steve Duchesne on seven.

Tampa Bay 3, Ottawa 1--The Lightning ended a 16-game road winless streak with the victory at Kanata, Ontario.

Colorado 5, Vancouver 2--Peter Forsberg scored twice and assisted on another goal as the Avalanche ended a three-game winless streak at Vancouver.

The NHL’s scoring leader with 11 goals and 32 assists, Forsberg keyed a four-goal outburst by the Avalanche in the first period in handing Vancouver its fifth consecutive loss.
