Terence Green; Journalist Was Real Estate Writer for The Times

Terence “Terry” Green, former real estate writer for The Times, has died at the age of 76.

Green died Sunday of cancer in St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach, his wife, Marilyn, said Monday.

Green came to The Times in 1961 as a copy editor and wrote for the weekly Real Estate section from the early 1970s until his retirement in 1985.

In 1973, Green was cited by the California Mobilehome Dealers Assn. for his regular column on the industry.

Earlier, he had been foreign editor of the Los Angeles Examiner and from 1954 to 1956 was editor of the Territorial Enterprise in Virginia City, Nev.

Born in Enid, Okla., Green served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He later attended Stanford University.

In addition to his wife, Green is survived by his son, Bruce, and daughter, Martha Green Ponce, and three grandchildren. Another son, Alan Terence Green, was fatally struck by a car in 1974 when he was a student at UCLA.

Memorial services are scheduled for noon Wednesday at Snively Stricklin Mortuary, 1953 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach.
