Third Person Dies From Avian Flu
A third person died from the mysterious avian flu in Hong Kong, a day after U.N. health officials predicted more people there would be stricken with the virus. A 13-year-old girl died at the government-run Prince of Wales hospital. She had been hospitalized less than a month. Experts fear the virus, previously found only in poultry and other birds, could spread if it mutates so that it can be transmitted between people and not just from birds to humans. So far, eight cases of the flu have been confirmed and two more are suspected. Four of the victims remained hospitalized.
