Consistency at Line Lacking

A month after USC made 18 of 19 free throws against Loyola Marymount, the Trojans made only six of 14 (42.9%) in Saturday’s loss to Ohio State.
Their previous low came against Sacramento State, when they made five of nine (55.6%). Going into Saturday’s game, USC was averaging 70.7%.

After the game, USC Coach Henry Bibby said he didn’t understand why he was assessed a technical foul less than a minute into the second half.
“All I did was say there should have been a foul called,” Bibby said. “I mean, how does Bobby Knight come in here and coach?”
Later, referees hit junior Adam Spanich with a technical for his reaction to a call. He didn’t argue, he yelped, jumped and then nodded his head.
“I didn’t think they should have called a technical for that. They should have called one on him earlier for swinging his elbow,” Bibby said about Spanich, who whipped his elbow at Buckeye guard Ron Sanderson after a rebound. It missed but the crowd saw it and booed Spanich every time he touched the ball afterward.
