Longtime Member of Fire Department Named Chief

Anthon L. “Skip” Beck, a Long Beach native and a 28-year veteran of the Long Beach Fire Department, has been named chief of the Fire Department, City Manager James Hankla said Monday.
Since 1991, Beck, 53, has served as deputy chief in charge of emergency operations and support services.
He succeeds chief Harold Omel, who recently announced his retirement after 33 years of service.
