State Parks Offer Scenic Nature Trails
What better time to explore the great outdoors than during the holidays.
Some of the most scenic state parks can be discovered by taking self-guided nature trails that lead to the beaches.
Both the San Onofre and San Clemente state beach parks, in the south end of San Clemente, provide identification markers that guide visitors along trails where they can explore native vegetation and learn about area wildlife.
There are many scenic areas and photographic opportunities along the short walking trails, including striking ocean views in both parks. Take the Avenida Calafia exit on Interstate 5 for San Clemente park or the Basilone Road exit for San Onofre park.
Parking is $6. Hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
