A 25-year-old man died and two others were injured early Saturday when their car veered off the Bristol Street exit ramp of the San Diego Freeway, went down an embankment and overturned, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

The threesome were traveling north about 2:40 a.m. when their Ford Mustang smashed into two guardrails and a metal sign post before going over the side of the road, according to the CHP.

Officers found the driver trapped inside the car, the dispatcher said.

Jaime Ortega of Santa Ana died at the scene.

The two other occupants of the car, a 30-year-old Anaheim man and a 27-year-old Utah man, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana and UCI Medical Center in Orange, the dispatcher said.
