Flying Mad

I am amazed at the seeming lack of protest shown by passengers in response to the airline industries’ initial probing regarding public acceptance of further restricting carry-on luggage or imposing a surcharge for what in their opinion is excess.

I strongly support the current FAA regulation of two carry-ons per passenger. The carriers are already hinting at one carry-on free and a surcharge for the second.

Wake up flying public! This is nothing more than another revenue generator thinly disguised as a safety issue. As a sales manager for a large national corporation for 29 years, I flew hundreds of thousands of miles. I never saw anyone injured by falling carry-ons.

Perhaps if the carriers spent as much effort providing proper baggage handling, (prompt carousel delivery, no thefts, no lost pieces, no “sorry it didn’t make your flight,” and no destruction of bags and contents), they would not have Aunt Tilly from Omaha struggling up the aisle with one flight bag, six shopping bags, three cake boxes and something that looks like a steamer trunk.

I have instructed my agent to choose my carrier by their carry-on policy. I urge anyone flying soon to do the same.
