YORBA LINDA — Unit Instruments Inc. said Monday that it has been selected as the supplier of mass flow controllers to a new venture backed by the semiconductor groups of Siemens Corp. and Motorola Inc.
A Unit Instruments spokesman said the company expects to pick up $5 million or more in revenue from the sale and servicing of its products, which control the flow of gases used in manufacturing semiconductor chips.
The venture, White Oak Semiconductor, will produce temporary storage devices called DRAMs once a new Virginia facility starts operations next year.
To provide White Oak with long-term support, Unit Instruments said it will open a service center in the Richmond, Va., area by October. The center also will service Unit Instruments customers in the mid-Atlantic and Southeast states.
