Ex-Boyfriend Held in Alleged Kidnapping
A Fillmore man who allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, drove her to a secluded park and threatened to kill her last week turned himself in and was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, domestic battery and making death threats, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said Monday.
Merced Urrea, 24, was being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Urrea allegedly kidnapped his former girlfriend, Linda Mulberry of Fillmore, about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies said. He drove her to Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks, where hikers saw the woman trying to escape and helped her get away, deputies said.
Urrea fled, then turned himself in the following day, deputies said.
