The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday voted, 5-0, to pursue a complaint and schedule a formal disciplinary hearing against Mike Tyson for his actions in last Saturday’s fight against Evander Holyfield at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Here’s what happens next:

* Since Tyson has said he will waive his right to have at least 30 days to prepare for the hearing, the commission’s legal advisors drew up the waiver Tuesday and were to deliver it to his local attorney, Eckley “Marty” Keach.

* The commission’s attorneys also were scheduled to prepare the written complaint against Tyson, including a recommendation of revoking his license to box in Nevada for an undetermined amount of time and fining him the maximum allowable: 10% of his purse, or $3 million.

* The commission, which is withholding Tyson’s entire $29,824,600 purse check until the disciplinary hearing, ordered Don King, who promoted the fight, to cancel that check and deliver the commission a new check not made out to Tyson for the commission to put into an interest-bearing account.

* If the 30-day waiver was signed by Tyson and returned to the commission by the close of business Tuesday--there was no word on whether that had happened--the disciplinary hearing could be held as early as next Tuesday but more likely next Wednesday.

* At the hearing, commission attorneys will present the complaint, including whatever witnesses, videotape clips or objects they wish. Tyson, expected to attend the hearing, though it is not required, and his attorney will have an opportunity to respond.

* After the oral arguments, but not before closing the hearing, the commission, by a majority vote, will determine the amount of the fine, if any, and the length of Tyson’s suspension.
