Angels, Mighty Ducks Moving to a New Radio Home: KRLA

Share

The Angels and Mighty Ducks are expected to announce Monday that broadcasts of the teams’ games will be moved to KRLA 1110.

The Angels will continue to be heard on KTZN 710 through the end of this season, but will move to KRLA starting in 1998. The first Duck game to be carried by KRLA will be the Oct. 4 season-opener in Tokyo against the Vancouver Canucks. The Ducks had been found on KEZY-FM 95.9, but were tough to pick up in areas of south Orange County.

KTZN, formerly known as KMPC, has been the Angels’ flagship station since the team’s first season in 1961.

KRLA, a 50,000-watt oldies station, carried the Kings in the early 1970s when the late Jack Kent Cooke owned the team and the station. It’s also been the flagship station of the Clippers and Raiders in the past.

“We’ve signed a letter of intent for five years,” said Bob Moore, KRLA’s general manager. “We’re very excited to be the Angels’ and Ducks’ new radio home.”
