O.C.’s Low- or No-Cost Community Clinics
Free medical care is available to those in need in Orange County. Here’s a sampling:
* Lestonnac Clinic in Orange has offered free care since 1979. Volunteer doctors and nurses treat about 6,600 patients a year. Information is available at (714) 633-4600.
* Share Our Selves Free Clinic opened in Costa Mesa in 1985 and offers no-cost medical and dental care to about 18,000 patients annually. Recorded information is available by calling (714) 650-0640 for medical treatment, (714) 650-2072 for dental treatment.
* The county’s first free clinic opened in Laguna Beach in 1970. Now known as the Laguna Beach Community Clinic, it has charged fees based on patients’ incomes since 1985.
* Thirteen other low-cost community clinics are scattered throughout Orange County. Referrals are available by calling the Coalition of Orange County Community Clinics, (714) 667-5100.
