2 Passengers Arrested After Bomb Scare
Two airline passengers who caused a disturbance on a flight from Houston to Los Angeles and led authorities to believe there was a bomb on board were taken into custody when the plane landed, police said Monday.
An LAPD bomb squad found no explosive devices during a search of the Continental Airlines jetliner after it landed at Los Angeles International Airport, police said.
“When our bomb squad could not find anything, the case was turned over to the FBI,” said LAPD spokesman Jason Lee.
Continental public relations manager Karla Villalon said the crew “radioed ahead for authorities to take a man and a woman into custody. . . . It appears that they were interfering with the flight crew.”
Villalon said she had no other details about the disturbance.
Flight 1837 carried 130 passengers and five crew members on the flight of about three hours, Villalon said.
