Judge Makes Injunction Against Gang Permanent

A Superior Court judge has made permanent a 21-month-old injunction against 30 members of a notorious Long Beach street gang.
The order signed by Judge Victor Barrera prohibits members of the West Side Longos from carrying weapons, staying out late at night or painting graffiti for as long as they live in the city’s lower west side.
Long Beach Police Sgt. Rich Meyer said several Longos have moved out of the area since Barrera signed the temporary restraining order in October, 1995. But Meyer added that more than two dozen members of the gang have been arrested in Long Beach since the first injunction was ordered, and that some remaining Longos continue to commit violent crimes and disturb residents.
