Splash’s Lilavois Named an All-Star

Forward Bernie Lilavois, who leads the Splash with 11 goals and four assists, on Wednesday was named to the Continental Indoor Soccer League all-star team for the first time.

Lilavois and two other Splash players were selected for the Western Division squad that will play July 29 in Sacramento.

Players were selected by league coaches. They could not vote for their players.

Splash defender Doug Neely was the fourth-leading vote-getter. Last season, he was selected for the team but was not allowed to participate because the Splash already had the maximum three representatives.

Player/coach Dale Ervine, a forward, was selected for the third consecutive year despite only five goals and five assists this season.

Also on Wednesday, the Splash traded defender Paul McDonnell and a 1998 first-round draft pick to Indiana for midfielder Terry Rowe, 33, and defender Rich Ryerson, 32.

Ryerson, who sustained a concussion June 20 against Sacramento, has played in only two games. Rowe played with Ervine in Wichita for six seasons.

McDonnell, 25, was slowed by an ankle injury and had only two blocks this season in three games. In 82 career games, he had 88 blocks, 33 goals and 31 assists. He was making the transition to midfield this season.

The Splash also signed Brad Wilson, a former midfielder with the Galaxy of Major League Soccer.
