Cynthia Cooper set a WNBA record by scoring 30 points Friday night as the Houston Comets routed the Sacramento Monarchs, 82-60, before an announced crowd of 6,270 Friday night.

Cooper, who made six three-point shots, scored 14 points in the first 6:12 of the second half. Her three-point basket with 13:48 left broke the record of 29 set by Charlotte’s Andrea Stinson.

Ahead, 40-25, at halftime, the Comets quickly built the lead to 20 points in the second half. The Monarchs got no closer than 15 the rest of the way.
