Police are still searching for a man suspected of having sex with an underage girl over the Fourth of July weekend, authorities said.

The man is one of two suspects accused of having consensual sex July 5 with a 17-year-old Simi Valley High School student at the home of a custodian employed by Simi Valley Unified School District, according to Simi Valley Police Det. Dave DelMarto.

On July 10, officers arrested the custodian, Eric Douglas Harris, 34, of Simi Valley. Harris was subsequently charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and two counts of unlawful oral copulation with a minor.

Harris was suspended from his job, according to school officials, and is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 5. He is free on $5,000 bail.

According to DelMarto, the two men were driving along Sycamore Drive when they offered the girl a ride to a mall, but instead drove to Harris’ home in the 2200 block of Madrone Street. Once inside the house, the girl engaged in consensual sex with both men, DelMarto said.

The girl returned home late that night and apparently lied to her parents about where she had been, but eventually confessed to what had taken place, DelMarto said. Her parents went to authorities on July 7.

DelMarto said that both men knew how old the girl was prior to having sex with her. The men allegedly told the girl they were in their early 20s, according to DelMarto.

Authorities only know the second suspect as “Mike,” who is described as white, 5 foot 10, 160 pounds and unshaven, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Simi Valley Police Department at 583-6950.
