Missing Girl Found Unharmed in Motel Room in Anaheim
An intense, two-day search for a missing 10-year-old girl ended Wednesday when the apparent runaway was found alone and unharmed in a local motel room, police said.
The girl was found about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Palm Motor Lodge in a room registered to an unidentified adult male who was not present, according to Sgt. Bob Conklin.
The girl said she was not the victim of a crime and initially lied about her identity when found in the room, Conklin said. An investigation into her disappearance and the role of the man is ongoing, police said.
The girl was returned to family members, ending a massive search that included neighborhood canvassing, 500 fliers, the use of a helicopter and police phone calls to about 4,000 residents for possible clues, Conklin said.
