Tasteful Event Includes Children’s Activities, Band . . . and Lots of Food

The first Taste of Placentia will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. today in the historic downtown area.

Featured will be fare from local restaurants, entertainment and activities for children.

Hosted by the city and the Placita Santa Fe Merchants Assn., the event replaces the annual Street Faire, which has been rescheduled for May.

Admission is free. Tickets will be sold for sampling a range a foods including tacos, hot dogs and bakery goods.

Rosalina Davis, co-owner of Tlaquepaque restaurant and a committee member for Taste of Placentia, said the event “gives everybody a taste of what Placentia has to offer. Placentia is well-known for its restaurants.”

Davis said that the evening event “is just another step to encourage people to come down here.”

Entertainment will include rock ‘n’ roll bands, jazz and a 5:15 p.m. performance by a 22-piece band made up of students and faculty from the University of Queretaro, Mexico.

Children may participate in games and by creating artwork projects or having their faces painted.

Santa Fe Avenue and Bradford Street downtown will be closed to vehicle traffic for the event. Parking will be available at nearby Kraemer Park, 201 N. Bradford Ave.; or at Valencia High School, 500 N. Bradford Ave. A shuttle service to the festival area will be available.
