Sipchen Series Is Really on a Roll

Share

I am writing in response to the continuing series “American Family: On the Road With the Sipchens.”

I find it refreshing to be reminded that the United States extends beyond the California borders. It is also enlightening to be able to glimpse the many similarities and differences we Californians have with the rest of the country.

However, it was not an article about any particular experience or person encountered on the journey that prompted this letter. It was the article “Yes, They’re Alive, Well and Happy--So There” (July 14) that has caught my attention more than any other.

In this article, Bob Sipchen has provided us with a beautiful and encouraging view into the American family. This story is filled with wonderful examples of how a family can and should work. Children truly being given responsibility within the family, being “forced” to get along while in the RV and being exposed to great classics like “Huckleberry Finn” while driving through the South not only create memories, but create great families and individuals.
