Crashed Warplane’s Bombs Still Missing

An Air Force team searching for three weeks for wreckage from an A-10 warplane that crashed into Gold Dust Peak last April still has not found the four 500-pound bombs that were aboard the plane, but there is no evidence to suggest the bombs are anywhere but on the 13,000-foot mountain near Vail, Brig. Gen. Don Streater said in a statement. In their original search, in late April, rescue workers found scraps of metal from the plane and partial remains of the pilot, Capt. Craig Button.
