English Disco Plans a Reprise

Share

We have excellent news for the world: Rodney Bingenheimer’s reviving Rodney’s English Disco, L.A.’s original Brit-Pop club, at Billboard Live (rumor has it that the KROQ vet is flying in Linoleum for the first performance, which is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 24). The all-ages club will occur monthly on a Sunday at the Sunset Strip venue. . . .

Bit of excitement at Moguls in Hollywood on Saturday night, where an employee of Tigermask (an outside concert promotions company that does shows at the venue) sprayed the audience with Mace during a performance by the Lazy Cowgirls. According to Moguls owner Phil Duff, the club’s regular security team was not in force and the nervous employee thought the crowd was getting out of hand. (Eyewitnesses dispute this, saying it was just an old-fashioned mosh pit.) “All we can do is apologize to people who’ve been calling and offer a refund,” Duff says. . . .

According to an excellent source, the folks who own the Gate in West Hollywood recently bought the Roxbury, so look for some big chi-chi changes at the old Shannen Doherty Strip stamping ground.
