City Offering Free Sandbags to Residents
The city’s El Nino Preparation Program is handing out an average of 1,000 bags of sand a day, and officials anticipate the number will grow when the city expands the program.
Residents can get free sandbags at the City Corporation Yard, 17371 Gothard St., from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Officials said sandbags also will be available at three other locations in the coming months.
Sandbags are only available to Huntington Beach residents who show proof of residence with a California driver’s license or a current city utility bill.
