Bravo to the Celebration of Denver’s Musical Legacy

Share

Hats off to Milton Okun for acknowledging John Denver’s true contribution to American popular music (“Denver Not Given Proper Respect,” Counterpunch, Oct. 27).

It seems so many commentaries found it necessary to focus on his “darker days” rather than celebrate the incredible legacy of music he left behind. I’m hard pressed to believe we’ll be singing songs by Jewel or the Wallflowers around a campfire 10 years from now, but John’s songs will endure as the finest examples of classic songwriting.
