Jay Leno and Peter Fonda will lead a caravan of bikers on the 50-mile Love Ride 14 to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Assn. Bikers will leave from Harley-Davidson in Glendale for a barbecue, trade show and concert at Castaic Lake. The Doobie Brothers and Jim Belushi & the Sacred Hearts will entertain.

The John Wayne Cancer Institute Terry Fox Run, honoring the late Terry Fox’s fight for a cancer cure, will be held at West Los Angeles’ Veterans Center. The day includes a 10K Run, 5K Fitness Run/Walk, Children’s Fun Run and a free festival with entertainment and music. Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf is honorary chairman and “Baywatch’s” Donna D’Errico is celebrity host.

An exhibition of modern and contemporary paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture captures the many aspects of love in “Evidence of Love” at Jack Rutberg Fine Arts. Works include Robert Indiana’s 6-foot “Love” sculpture, a 12-foot Jim Dine “Hearts” painting, Arshile Gorky’s early abstract painting “Lovers” (pictured) as well as works by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Ed Ruscha, Jonathan Borofsky and Lari Pittman.

“Our Neighborhood Through Our Eyes,” an exhibition of children’s photography of family, neighborhood and community presented by the Japanese American National Museum, opens at the Junior Arts Center in Barnsdall Art Park with a free reception and “Recycle With Love” family art project. The art project theme coincides with “Hello Again!,” an exhibition of art made of recycled materials on view at the Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Art Park through Nov. 16.

“The revolution will not be online.” Maybe that’s the update of Gil Scott-Heron’s famous aphorism “The revolution will not be televised.” In any case, the poet-musician, who plays McCabe’s on Sunday, laid out much of the blueprint for rap in his early-’70s work, and he continues to carry the torch for social-political commentary in musical form.

Known for rapid-fire play and Spanish inflections, John McLaughlin has been a favorite with U.S. guitarists since the late ‘60s, when he left England to join the Miles Davis band. He’ll feature saxophonist Gary Thomas and drummer Dennis Chambers as his quintet plays tunes from his new electric album, “The Heart of Things.”
